ORGANIZATIONS
S.C.A. PROMOTES SCHOOL ACTIVITIES AT WOODROW WILSON
Mr. President, Larry Willis, takes a break from his hectic day.
S.C.A. Helpers; Gail Martin, Valerie Westbrook, John Woodall, Florence Landy, and Becky Leggett.
  The purpose of the Student Cooperative Association is to help the students, faculty, and administration work together. It is the organization of student government here at Wilson and it successfully completes many projects during the year. The S.C.A. begins planning in August for the year ahead. Some of the many activities include; Freshmen Orientation; Operation of the used bookroom; Organizing the elections of the Homecoming Court; United Fund drive ; American Education Week; Student Scholarship Fund; Various Christmas projects; March of Dimes; Ecology Week; School Spirit drive; and working with the homeroom representatives to make Wilson a better school. A busy year, but a successful one!!

   The Junior Marshals serve at all auditorium events. These lovely young ladies and Glynn Ward, publicity chairman, are responsible for making each visitor who attends activities at T.A. Willett Auditorium enjoy all performances. The Junior Marshals are nominated by homeroom teachers and elected by the S.C.A. according to their academic average, interest, personality, and poise.

THE DRAMATICS CLUB AND
THESPIAN TROUPE 1238
  The Dramatics Club is composed of
students interested in all aspects of drama. From backstage preparations to finale, each member was able to find the area for which he was best suited. Membership in the club can be obtained by appearing in any one of the productions throughout the year. This year the club presented a murder mystery, “The Whole Truth” and three one-act plays. Dramatics club members learn many new and exciting things about play pro-ductions, staging and lighting. Their many long hours of hard work are rewarded by the applause on opening night. Thespian Troupe No. 1238 is closely associated with the Dra-matics Club.
It consists of a President, Vice-Presi- dent, Secretary, and Treasurer which
are also officers of the Dramatics Club. This group earns their mem-bership to the troupe according to a point system based on their con-tributions to the Dramatics Club.

Kenneth Lindsey, the M.P. Drum Major, has performed outstandingly this year. The leader of the Band and coordinator of the various functions, he has been highly recommendable.

   The Marching Presidents have participated in the Norfolk State Homecoming Parade, and Oyster Bowl Parade. The most Challenging event of the year for the band was to participate in the National Championship of the Marching Band held in Philadelphia, Pa. The Marching Presidents received an honorable mention.
   The Concert Band also performed at the “Festival and Concert Band
Competition held at Manor H.S.

THE SPANISH AND ASTRONOMY CLUBS
   The primary purpose of the Spanish Club is to broaden the club members’ knowledge and understanding of the Spanish speaking people and their culture. The club is opened for membership to anyone who is presently enrolled in or has completed at least one year of Spanish.
   One activity of the club this year was to eat dinner at El Conquistador, a Spanish restaurant. The highlight of the year was the trip to Washington, D.C., to visit embassies, the Language Institute, and the Pan Am Building.

   The Astronomy Club is dedicated to discovering the fascinating facts of the he-avens. Club members observed a solar echpse, took a field trip to NASA, at- tended regular presentations by the Man-or planetarium, and enjoyed several mov-ies. The club also sponsored a successful paper drive. Members are: Wade Moler, Mr. Fuller, sponsor; William Staples, Robbie Hodges, Kim Doust, and Frances Matusiak.

  Many Wilson students serve their school by assisting in the general office, guidance office, and library. They learn much about office procedures, typing, and running duplicating machines. All of this helps to pre- pare them for future careers. 
  With the help of these students, Wilson runs more smoothly.
