Winning the Southeastern District Champ-ionship, the softball team was very successful. They made it to the finals in Regionals after defeating two teams they had lost to in regular season. The final game was against Great Bridge. The Lady Presidents were losing 9-2 and came back to win 20-9. The second game was against Western Branch and the Lady Presidents won 8-2. Four players made All-district.
Johnelle Noll watches the batter with a careful eye.
Valerie DeBerry hopes the game won't come her way.
“I don’t care what the guys say, this tabacco tastes terrible!” gasps Johnelle Noll.
Top Row: Milton Barham, Donald Coble, Phillip Killebrew, Perry Outland, Phillip Hedgepeth, Mark Gitt, Coach Ray McGinly. Bottom Row: Steve Fisher, Mark Matthews, Steve Joyner, Donald Wilson, Preston Dezern.
Overall, the Prexie Baseball record left something to be desired. However, with a few individual standouts and a core of underclassmen the 1982 season shows promise. Prexies were led at the plate by senior Milton Barham who batted 500 for the season. The defensive standout was Steve “Chili” Joyner behind the plate. Show-ing promise for next season was the 1980 M.V.P. Mark Matthews at shortstop. Also showing promise were Phil Hedgepeth, Donald Coble, and Donald Wilson.

Bobby Montague, Kevin Brown, Coach Thompson, Roland Reese, and Kirk Tayor discuss more than just baseball.
Despite a small team of twelve members a good pitching staff pulled the J. V. Baseball team through the season. Most Valuable Player Kirk Taylor also had the highest batting average, recipient of the coveted Golden Glove was Bobby Montague, and best fielder was Kevin Brown.
Top: Roy Reel, Anthony Robertson, Bruce Sykes, Jeff Greiner, Eugene Brown, Charles Grant, Bottom: Timmothy Maxwell, Brian Pranscome, Joe Plummer, Lornell Jones, Walter Jenkins.
Hunter Pittman shows everybody his thunder foot.
Above: Senior Hunter Pittman smiles at his performance.
With the loss of fine senior players a strong  recruiting will be needed next season. Among the
seniors lost was MVP Hinter Pittman. We had a  strong team that would run 80 minutes a day and  show up for practice to give us a winning team.  This year a space was left in the team by one  player, Timothy Maxwell who will be missed.
A PICTURE OF DETERMINATION
Front Row: Coach Strickland, Regina Hawkins, Crystal Robinson, Annette Johnson, Felicia Green Back Row: Iola Faulks, Felicia McCall, Angela Council
Wilson’s Boys and Girls Track Team of 1981 was a picture of Determination and school pride. We were defeated in all our dual meets and expected to do poorly in the City meet at Manor. But at the City Meet both the girls and boys teams showed our tradition of endurance. The girls efforts were hindered by the injury of Regina Hawkins, but they stayed together and did well. The girls that qualified for the regional meet at Green Run were Angela Council, Iola Faulks, Regina Hawkins, Kim Keene and Beverly Oliver. Ricky Cowan, Emmett Hobbs, Kelvin Jordan, Curtis Oliver Capt
