Woodrow Wilson's first year
field hockey team finished 6th in
the district this year. Each player
came on to the field with little or
no idea of how to play the game, as well as no knowledge of the rules. With this in mind, it en- couraged the team to work much harder to improve skill level and knowledge of the game. The 1999 season is anticipated to be a greater year with more victories and more players.

The 1997 girl’s varsity soccer team played a rough 17 game schedule in the Eastern District. The ladies placed 5th in the dis- trict with a 3-5 district record a a 6-11 overall record. Our squad said farewell this year to graduat- ing seniors Holly Edwards and co-captain Brandy Butler. Other captains were sophomore Janis Sasser and junior Pam Willie. End of season MVP honors went to sophomore Alexis McClenney.
Newcomers of note were Amber Wyatt, Becky Burton, Tiffany Johnson, Lakesha Atkinson and
Stephanie Lonnigans.
