Wilson High School welcomed two new administrators this school year. Our distinguish-
ed principal, Mr. William Gibson, is serving as principal for the first time. He served eighteen years as band director at Harry Hunt Jr. High School, Cradock High School, and Manor High School. Mr. Gibson left the classroom in 1988 to serve as assistant principal for five years at I. C. Norcum and two years at Churchland High School. In his spare time, our capable principal enjoys visiting sick, reading the Bible, and watching sports on television.
Wilson's other new administrator is Mrs. Susan Bechtol. She taught emotionally disturb-ed students for eleven years in Norfolk worked with SECEP, and served as Dean of Students for five years with Norfolk Public Schools. Mrs. Bechtol loves all sports, especially college basketball and the Dallas Cowboys.
Wilson's veteran administrators are Dr. Joseph Pociask, and Mr. Kenneth Porter. Dr. Pociask has taught social studies and served as assistant principal at Norcum, Manor, Wilson and Cradock High. He was also Portsmouth's Social Studies Director. Dr. Pociask enjoys fishing astronomy, gardening, and listening to rock and classical music. He would like to share this with the student body, "Students who take pride in their work and school, take pride in themselves."
Mr. Porter comes to our school with thirty years of teaching experience as an art teacher. This is his second year as assistant principal at Wilson. In his spare time, Mr. Porter enjoys singing, karate, drawing, painting and playing the bass guitar.
Mr. Gibson holds a B.S. degree in instrumental Music Education and a M.A. in Music Education from VCU, and he holds a C.A.S. from ODU. Dr. Pociask holds B.S. and M.A. degrees in Social Studies from ODU, a C.A.G.S. degree in Education from ODU and a PH.D. of Education in Administration. Mr. Porter holds a B.S.
degree from Elizabeth City State Ubiversity, A M.A. dregree from Catholic University of America, and a C.A.S. from ODU. Mrs. Bechtol holds a B.S. in special Education for JMU, a M.A. from George Washington University, and a VPI doctoral candiate.
